Expedition conference presents distinguished guests and representatives.

Tribes historian to receive Boswell award Nov. 14 

Calvin Grinnell will be presented with the Paul V. Boswell Community Scholar Award on Nov. 14. Grinnell is a historian for the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation.

The award is presented to people who have done significant community building across cultures. The award is named after Paul V. Boswell, a former director of the UND Native Media Center who died in 2006.

The award will be presented to Grinnell at the annual Stone Soup Awards Program, which is hosted by the UND Center for Community Engagement. The award ceremony recognizes faculty and students who have been engaged in the community and university.

Meet, Eat and Learn for International Education Nov. 13

A panel discussion about education, gender and cultural issues around the world will take place in the International Centre from noon to 1 p.m. on Nov. 13.

Four men from Egypt, China, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America will discuss their experiences and compare them to the United States. They will also talk about women’s roles in their country.

“Meet, Eat and Learn” events take place once a month. Everyone is welcome and the food is free.
