Duo claims awards

For the second year in a row, seniors Nate Peterson and Erin Wysocki were named the UND cross country program’s Most Valuable Runners earlier this week for the 2014 season.

Peterson finished first among UND runners at the Big Sky Cross Country Championship with a No. 18 finish overall at 25 minutes, 7.6 seconds. His performance put him in the top half of the NCAA Division I Midwest Regional after claiming second place at the annual UND Ron Pynn Classic.

Peterson also excelled in the classroom. The Horace, N.D. native was named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2014 semester.

Wysocki’s 44th place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional led all UND runners and beat her own all-region time in 2013 by more than three seconds. She took home a No. 25 finish at the Big Sky Championship to set a new personal record.

Wysoski placed fourth at the UND Ron Rynn Classic and was named to the Fall 2014 Dean’s list.

Other award winners on the men’s side included Darin Baltezore (Most Improved), Connor Danielson (Freshman of the Year) and Mark Harries (Dakota Spirit Award).

Awards given to the women’s side were to Larissa Juelich (Most Improved), Martha Hubbell (Freshman of the Year) and Rachel Miesbauer (Dakota Spirit Award).
