The sports world has two essential aspects to it: the athletes and coaches on the field, and the dedicated individuals behind the scenes who ensure everything runs smoothly for everyone involved on game day. At the University of North Dakota, there are numerous opportunities to engage with both sides of the sports community. You have a chance to immerse yourself in this wonderful environment, getting involved and making a meaningful impact on sports and your academic life.
From October 6 to October 16, the Wellness Center will open registration for its recreational sports leagues. Whether you already have a team or not, you can sign up to join other students, faculty, and staff to compete in one of 12 different sports leagues. It is a great opportunity to get on the field.
If playing a sport is not your scene, getting on the sideline might be. Currently, there are student employment opportunities in various athletic departments that give you the chance to gain valuable experience. By looking up UND student employment, it will bring you to different job openings, and right now, some football and volleyball jobs are looking for applications. These specific ones close at the beginning of October but keep checking throughout the year to see what other opportunities in the sports world open.
For students looking to explore more of the business, legal, or leadership side of sports, there are many clubs at UND ready for you to join. The Sports Business Student Association (SBSA), open to all majors, is a club that meets every other Wednesday, with the next scheduled meeting being on October 1st. SBSA hosts different guest speakers, networking events, and even career panels that explore everything from marketing to event management. It is a wonderful way to explore how sports operate off the field and how you can be a part of it.
