The University of North Dakota is known for a variety of aspects, perhaps its largest being the John D. Odegard of Aerospace Sciences. The aviation college is one of the largest in the nation and offers many benefits of conducting flight training at UND. Whether it be the top-notch aircraft fleet, distinguished professors or award-winning maintenance personnel, the UND name is recognized everywhere for being one of the best flight schools in the country and around the world. Another aspect that sets the school apart from its competitors are the accommodations that are made for students to enhance not only training, but also to increase the quality of their overall college experience. One of these accommodations that are available for students is the airport shuttle. The airport shuttle runs from various places on campus to the airport, located about 10 miles from the University of North Dakota’s main campus.
The airport shuttle has just recently added another stop to the route, which runs from Wilkerson Commons to Ryan Hall then to the Grand Forks International Airport. With the addition of the extra stop on the route comes more flexibility for aviation students without cars. There are two shuttles that have assumed this route, and they run all day to ensure students are able to reach the airport for their flight labs. Since the new route is longer, it is crucial that students budget enough time in their schedules for the additional stop, as well as to accept any delays with inclement weather and train delays.
The University is also facing construction at the airport in the coming months and even into the coming years. With construction will come reduced airport parking, which makes the shuttle even more valuable to aviation students. The shuttle service is paid in part by student flight fees, so it pays off to ride the shuttle.
If you struggle to find airport parking or even just want to save some money on gas, the airport shuttle is a great choice to satisfy both needs. The shuttle schedule is posted at the airport and within the aerospace buildings. If you have any questions regarding the schedule, contact SAAC President Josh Salmi at [email protected].
