In celebration of Taylor Swift’s 33rd birthday, the acclaimed singer-songwriter will soon be releasing her “Eras Tour” film onto streaming services.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour started in the spring of 2023. As the tour continued into the fall, Swift announced that an Eras Tour film would be releasing in theatres in October. The film features almost three hours of grand and spellbinding performances from her concerts, highlighting the cinematic performances, dances, and effects that take place at every one of her Eras concerts. Over the past several weeks the film has made its premiere to the public, and it has raked in over $900 million worth of profit. Today, it is considered the top-grossing concert film to ever be released in the United States.

On November 29th, Taylor made the announcement about releasing the film onto streaming services. On her Instagram, she wrote, “Well, so, basically I have a birthday coming up, and I was thinking a fun way to celebrate the year we’ve had together would be to make The Eras Tour Concert Film available for you to watch at home!

Taylor also announced that the film is going to be extended, including three more of her concert performances; “The Archer,” “Wildest Dreams,” and “Long Live.”

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” gathered a multitude of positive reviews when it hit theatres. It scored a 99% Rotten Tomatoes rating, with several esteemed critics sharing their appraisals. Los Angeles Times critic Justin Chang writes, “With its labyrinthine arc, jumbled chronology and dazzling changes of tone, milieu and costume, it’s Swift’s ode to invention and self-reinvention…”

This is not the first time Taylor has turned her performances into a film. In 2018, she released her Reputation Stadium Tour film on Netflix, similarly chronicling her performances from the tour for viewers to become immersed in from home. Then, with the release of her album Folklore in 2020, Taylor took to Disney Plus to share her Folklore: The Long Pond Sessions film. The film shared an acoustic version of her Folklore album, recorded from Long Pond Studios in upstate New York. However, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” is her first movie to be released in theatres, and the worldwide excitement surrounding the Eras film release was something never seen before.

The film is set to be available on Apple TV, Vudu, Prime Video, Xfinity, Google Play, and YouTube. As the film becomes accessible to fans at home, the thrill and captivation of her highly applauded worldwide tour will continue to gain attention, even as the leg ends.
