As technology has become more advanced and involved in many aspects of university life, understanding how to use it for all its benefits is necessary. The My UND app is one of these technology platforms that is available and sometimes necessary to use for all UND students. To help ease the process of navigating this app and to discover all that it has to offer, UND has created the App Quest program.
The App Quest program is a fun and engaging way for UND students to learn more about the My UND app, how to navigate it, and all the resources that can be found on it.
This app holds all the information one may need from Wellness Center information, Campus Connection, Blackboard, Hawk Central and more. Having all these resources in one place makes it easier for students to navigate college life and all the different websites they may need to use.
“The My UND app has all of the websites I need to use for school and anything UND related as well as campus event schedules which makes it so convenient to use and to find out what’s going on around campus,” said Fr. Caleb Winkles.
App Quest encourages student engagement and understanding of the app by creating challenges for participating students to find different resources and information on the app. Each task completed builds one part of an ice-cream cone, from the waffle cone to the cherry on top. When students complete each step of the challenge, they screenshot their completion and submit their answers for a chance to win fun prizes.
The prizes students can win are of high value to make this challenge even more interesting to students. The February App Quest prizes, being Garmin watches, Beats headphones, sports equipment and gift cards, have caught the attention of many students and has increased student involvement.
“I had never participated in the App Quest challenge before, but once I saw what prizes they had, I imminently started the challenge,” said Fr. Brennan Meyer.
By learning how to navigate this app, students can not only make their lives easier but also find some cool new information or opportunities along the way. This past App Quest challenge involved the UND Wellness Center and educated students on finding out about all the resources they have to offer from the culinary corner, to exercise classes and equipment rentals.
“Before doing the App Quest challenge, I didn’t know that you could rent winter equipment like ice skates and snowshoes from the Wellness Center,” said Fr. Meyer. “This is a total game changer for me and my friends because this opens up a door to more fun activities we can do to keep busy during the winter months.”
As technology further integrates itself into university life, resources like the App Quest program are a helpful tool to ease students into understanding it and using it for all of its benefits. By using the My UND app not only are students able to find helpful information and resources all in one place, but they are also able to have fun while doing it and maybe take home some prizes.
