The semester has officially reached the halfway point at the University of North Dakota, and with that comes the relief of completing midterms. However, this brings the new challenge of looking ahead to the next semester. Whether you are planning on taking summer courses or not returning until the Fall, it is important to get a head start on preparing for registration.
The first step to preparation is to know when your registration date is. On Mar. 28, the date and time that registration will be open for you will appear in campus connection. Whatever is assigned to you is when you should plan to register and to have your registration plan set in place before. Along with this, it may be important to note that Mar. 31 will be the day that early registration opens to those who qualify.
Once you have a plan in place for when to register, it is time to begin planning what to register for. There are many tools provided to you by UND to assist you in this process. Perhaps the most helpful tool is your access to Hawk Central where you can easily communicate and schedule appointments with an advisor. Making an appointment to meet with your advisor before registration begins can be incredibly helpful as they will be able to assist you in discovering which classes will be best suited for you in the upcoming semester.
One tool that your advisor will probably help you navigate is your degree map. This is another tool provided to you that can help you navigate mapping out the courses you might take semester by semester. It serves as a great visual tool to help you understand where each course fits into your academic career. Along with this, it shows you your progress as you complete various parts of your degree which can be exciting.
Once you have your classes planned out in degree map, that information should be transferred over to campus connection and be there on the day that you register. This makes the process of putting the courses in your shopping cart and building your schedule a much quicker and simpler process.
It will be very beneficial to you to know exactly which courses you want to sign up for and to have a few back up options in case some fill up. You want to be as prepared as you can be before registration opens so that you can make choices that you are prepared for.
When it comes to your actual time to register, ensure that you are using a charged device on a stable network and that you know exactly what your plan is before logging in to campus connection. This should all ensure that you get the best possible outcome.
Registration is coming up quickly so be sure to take the necessary steps to set yourself up for success.
