With the summer ending and winter around the corner, perhaps the shortest but most enjoyable season awaits. Fall in Grand Forks provides opportunities to get involved in the Greater Grand Forks Community. With Nelson’s Pumpkin Patch, as well as events such as Parktoberfest, the Grand Forks Public Library Fall Book Sale, and many others, there are many ways to savor the season of fall prior to a long, difficult winter.
On September 26 to September 28, the Grand Forks Public Library is hosting a book sale. The library is selling hardcovers for $1, and paperbacks for $0.50. Proceeds from the event support the Grand Forks Public Library, so every dollar goes to a good cause. To find out more information, you can search Grand Forks Public Friends’ Fall Book Sale on Facebook to find the events Facebook page. As the semester is still in its early stages, upcoming weekends could be spent with a good book from the event.
Just a few days later, on Monday, September 30, from 5 pm to 7 pm, the Grand Forks Park District is hosting “Parktoberfest,” a fall themed event hosted at University Park. The event includes pumpkin painting for $2 a pumpkin, s’mores, and a screening of the movie Beetlejuice at 7:15 pm, as well as many other activities. It is free to attend and is just a short walk from UND’s campus.
Perhaps the most popular fall activity in the greater Grand Forks area is Nelson’s Pumpkins Patch. Opening earlier this month, Nelson’s Pumpkins Patch offers a variety of fall activities including haunted houses, yard games, hayrides, pumpkin picking, and a corn maze. Nelson’s consistently draws in a large crowd season after season and provides all ages to participate in fall fun.
Participating in activities throughout the Greater Grand Forks area is an excellent way to get involved within the community outside of UND’s campus and is crucial to the growth of the community, as well as every student and citizen of Grand Forks.
