72 days of opportunity

Well, it is getting to be that time of year again. The time of year when I start asking myself how many days are left until vacation begins.

Earlier today, I even calculated how many days are left until my last final, hoping to become suddenly inspired and motivated, but instead I found out it is a bleak 72 days away.

After dragging my feet around for the next few hours and feeling unmotivated to do anything in my life with such a long wait until break, I realized I actually should stop with the countdowns and try to enjoy my time here.

It might be difficult to think that positively when I am writing papers or studying for exams and I feel like a chicken with my head cut off, but I have come to the conclusion that it is important to remind myself how lucky I am to be in college and that I need to enjoy it.

While I have been here at college, I have been very fortunate to do a lot of great things and experience some awesome opportunities.  I have been able to learn so much, not only through a wide variety of classes I have taken but also through the experiences I have taken part in and everything that UND has to offer.

UND has so many fun activities to do like going to cooking classes, group workout sessions, dances, games, and speakers. I do try to attend these opportunities but I need to push myself more.

So I guess this will be my public vow to myself to stop walking around with slumped shoulders and counting down the days till break and to get out there and enjoy every minute of class, friends, extracurriculars, events, and, yes, even homework from this day forward!
