The Chester Fritz Library is the center of our campus. It houses great study spots, books, research sources, and people who want to make a difference here at UND. As they welcome a new dean, they welcome new opportunities to open its doors to students with fun events coming soon.
A recap of an event they hosted this year was a Beatles photo contest. If you passed the Abbey road tapestry on the second floor of the Chester Fritz Library (CFL), you may have seen it and some props. People who took pictures in front of the tapestry and submitted them to the provided link, had the opportunity to win some sweet prizes from the CFL. Some prizes included a record player, vinyls, and a speaker. Although this contest has closed, the library has some more in the near future.
On November 29th, they will be putting on an escape room in the library. Escape rooms are fun singular or multiplayer games where you are locked in a room and must use clues scattered throughout the location to find your way out. The tentative timing of this event is 6-9 pm, but it is subject to change. The main events will be occurring during finals week, where there will be therapy dogs and pizza for students. Therapy dogs will hopefully be in the CFL Monday through Thursday of finals week for 2 hours, and “Pizza and Papers,” will take place possibly on reading and review day. There is talk of librarians being available to answer questions about papers you may be writing, and are there to chat if needed.
As the CFL aims to open their doors to more students on campus, they are always taking suggestions on how to do so. If you have an idea for a killer promotion, an awesome event, or want to learn more about the library, you can contact Rebecca Brown, the web services librarian, or Zeineb Yousif, the digital initiatives librarian.
