Despite the seemingly never-ending poor weather this winter in Grand Forks, our need to go out and socialize has not changed, as it can be incredibly easy to go out less with the colder weather and opt to stay indoors instead. Yet, there are still several activities that you can engage in with your friends as an excuse to leave the house and socialize, such as bowling at Red Ray Lanes.
Located on 2105 S. Washington St. in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Red Ray Lanes is the perfect escape for bowlers of all levels to blow off some steam and let loose in one of the 24 operating lanes for bowling that can accommodate large groups and parties as well.
The family-owned bowling alley has operated since 1968 and has served the Greater Grand Forks community ever since. Between league nights for regular bowlers and the seasonal RecSports Bowling league that is offered, there are countless opportunities for students to bowl in a competitive environment as well.
It should be noted that Red Rays Lanes can be incredibly busy during peak hours, so be sure to arrive early so that you can avoid waiting for lanes to open up. Bowling shoes are available for rental if you do not have any, and house balls are included in the standard rate that you pay for a round of bowling.
Arguably the best part of bowling at Red Ray Lanes is the social aspect that bowling with others brings, as their state-of-the-art scoring system allows several bowlers to compete and bowl at a time on each lane. It is the perfect night out with friends or family if you are seeking out something to do before the weather warms up this spring.
For more information regarding promotional events, such as cosmic bowling where the alley is transformed into a disco-like environment where all the lights are out except for where the pins are accompanied by rotating lights and trendy music on Friday nights from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m., be sure to visit the Red Ray Lanes’ Facebook page where they are regularly promoting weekly events for Grand Forks residents and students alike to attend.
Whether or not you have been bowling before, definitely consider visiting Red Ray Lanes. It may prove to be the social escape and reprieve that all of us are searching for during this home stretch of the winter-weather season as we gear ourselves up and prepare for hopefully a healthy mix of outdoor activities as well this spring.
