Harry Potter fans around the world received exciting news this week — J.K. Rowling is in the process of writing the screenplay for a new movie set based in the wizarding world.

Most die-hard fans, including myself, cried out in excitement that the magic would be brought back to the screen.

As a hardcore Potter fan, I could not be more excited about the fact that a new movie will be made. A lot of people our age grew up with the Potter series and fell in love with the magic of the wizarding world.

I believe this movie will give the fans, especially the ones who have not read the books, more insight into the wizarding world. Although many of us know and love the story of Harry and his friends, we don’t know much about what happened leading up to the story of our hero.

I think this movie will be an exciting opportunity to see into the magical world that captivated us as children and still holds our attention today.

The movie is based off of the book “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” For those of you who are not familiar with the books, this is one of the required textbooks at Hogwarts.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rowling described the movie as, “the laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, 70 years before Harry’s gets underway.”

Newt Scamander was one of the headmasters at Hogwarts and is the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. His additions to the wizarding world and discovery of magical creatures led to the wizarding world we are familiar with.

I personally could not be more excited to find out about more characters in the magical community. Without these characters we would not have the great story of Harry Potter.

Although I will miss the characters we are all familiar with, it will be exciting to learn more about the names that were briefly mentioned in the series.

Rowling also talked about making more films based off of the textbooks the Hogwarts students had to read, giving her fans more insight to the world she created.

For some people it may be difficult to watch something related to Harry Potter without the characters they are familiar with. There will also be some people who don’t like it because they are not familiar with these characters.

However, the loyal fans will be at the movie theaters premiere night waiting to see what Rowling has in store for them.

Harry Potter was the Star Wars of our generation. It is something we all grew up with, heard about and were inspired by. Like fans of the Star Wars franchise were excited when more movies came out, Harry Potter fans are reacting the same way.

Although, as I stated earlier, there will be some naysayers to the whole idea of a “Harry Potter movie” without Harry Potter. I personally believe these people are not true fans, because the true fans love the wizarding world no matter what part of it they are learning about.

Hopefully there are more of you “Potterheads” out there like me just waiting to find out more news about the film, following the production and filming and waiting in line opening night. As Rowling once said “Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.”
