9/10/2013: Mary Ochs
Hey guys! Okay, so I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not really the blogger type. However, I’ll do my best to make this interesting!
My name is Mary and I’m a sophomore here at UND. This is my 3rd semester on the DS. I am a Medical Laboratory Science major, which is totally opposite of everyone else here at the paper, but that’s okay. I love it! I’m a huge country music fan, and I love to run. I know, I know, I’m crazy for loving to run. I’ve heard it a million times. But there’s something about putting on a pair of broken-in tennis shoes, listening to my favorite songs and an open road or trail that just really does it for me. It makes me feel great and it’s the cheapest therapy out there. 😉
So we’re just supposed to ramble about something in these blogs right? Okay, well here goes. I’m going to spout a little bit about Halloween. Random, yes, but I’m really excited for it. My friends and I are going out today to look and scope out costumes and then hit up the Blue Moose for dinner. (YUM) Halloween is by far one of my favorite holidays. It’s one of those rare holidays that doesn’t really cause too much stress like Christmas or Thanksgiving would. You aren’t obligated to spend time with relatives you don’t have anything in common with. On Halloween you are more likely to dress up in something fabulous and spend the night having fun with your friends. I’ve always been a fan of ghost stories and mysteries alike, and maybe that’s what drives my love of Halloween. Or maybe it’s the abundance of chocolate everyone gives out…. Either way, I love it. I have a couple of costume ideas in mind, so fingers crossed they work out!
I hope I see all of you out on Halloween! Don’t be lame and sit in your house/apartment/dorm and just watch TV. Even if you aren’t the kind to dress up, get out there and mingle with people. We need more social butterflies out there! (:
