When students roll in from summer break so do their wallets.

Some businesses in Grand Forks offer students discounts to help with their busy and broke lives.

Buffalo Wild Wings is a business that offers a discount for students on college night. Sunday nights from 9 p.m. to close, college students can receive 50 percent off a meal with the purchase of a drink and a college I.D.

“(I like the discount), even with the purchase of a drink, you’re still saving money,” Junior Matthew Linn said.

Sophomore Michelle Moorman said she has utilized the student discount at Buffalo Wild Wings as well.

“Four of us used to go every Sunday night for a few months,” Moorman said.

Another discount that students can use is at River Cities Speedway, where they can get in for 50 percent off with a UND I.D.

“It’s a great deal because races are real expensive, especially if you go every weekend like me,” sophomore Morgan Tiani said. “I have used it multiple times and am so very thankful for it. They understand what it’s like to be a semi-broke college student. It makes the race more enjoyable.”

Francesca’s, a women’s clothing store, offers 10 percent off a purchase with a student I.D. Although this is a smaller discount, junior Tori Pappenfus still takes advantage of it.

“It is worth it in my opinion,” Pappenfus said. “Every penny counts.”

Another business that offers student discounts is Eddie Bauers, which offers 15 percent off for students, and can be applied to any other sales or discounts that the store already has going on. Kittson offers 10 percent off for students and Fuji Japanese Steakhouse offers 10 percent off with proof of a student I.D.

Students say discounts can really help a thrifty person save money while still being able to go out and enjoy themselves.
