UND golf teams swing until the end

Seasons end after tournaments

The UND men’s and women’s golf teams took part in their conference championships this past week to put an end to each of their seasons.

The men took part in the America Sky Championships in Angels Camp, Calif., while the women took part in the Big Sky Championships in Chandler, Ariz.

The men finished seventh in the America Sky with senior Sean Halvorson leading the way with his 20th place individual finish. Junior Collin Lervick finished the highest for UND in the individual portion, tying for 10th place.

This was the men’s last tournament of the year. Northern Colorado took the title with Sacramento State capturing second place.

Women’s team

The women finished ninth in the Big Sky with Sadie Martin taking the top spot among UND golfers in the tournament at No. 16.

“Every tournament we play in is important, but this is the one that we build for all year,” UND coach Natalie Martinson said, “I feel like we got back on track a couple of weeks ago in Kansas City after a strong start in the fall.”

Despite the season being over, the team can look forward to getting started all over again next season and build from experience.

Both teams now have next season to start preparing for as the school year winds down, each looking to improve for next year.

“I have a young lineup, but it is a confident one and I know they are looking forward to competing against the other league members,” Martinson said.
