BLOG: Cereal noises
Hey there, UND!
Can you even fathom that it’s already November?! I swear, August lasted about three minutes, and everything after that lasted even less. Yet here we are! Anyway, my blog topic for today has absolutely nothing to do with time or seasons, but I guess that was my way of making small talk over a blog entry. Hm…
The topic I’d like to rant about today is what I consider my biggest pet peeve. We all have them, of course, but they vary from person to person. For me, the thing that drives me absolutely crazy is when I can hear and have to listen to people eat or chew food. It’s disgusting. The worst is cereal or something crunchy.
I can’t remember when this pet peeve began, but I remember growing up always being annoyed with it. In K-12 school, I was always an early riser and would eat breakfast in the morning. I love my cereal, so that was generally my breakfast of choice. On the occasions that my parents would have a bowl with me, I instantly became cranky.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my parents. I just hate listening to them chew and chomp on cereal. There is something about the slurp, crunch, smack and gulp that just makes me want to punch a hole in the wall. Please don’t peg me for some angry madwoman. I’m sure we can all think of traits or circumstances that drive each one of us bonkers. This just happens to be mine.
It’s sort of ironic if you think about it, though. I love cereal and I generally like all people. It’s just when you combine the two and force them to interact, I become irked and slightly queasy. I can’t quite describe it, but I can only hope you all understand and can empathize with me on some level. I’m sure we all have that one pet peeve that really gets us. Hopefully, you don’t let yours bother you as much I let mine bother me sometimes.
Below, I’ve included a few of my favorite cereals 🙂
