UND Career Services hosted the Spring 2026 Part-Time & Summer Jobs Fair last Thursday, March 19.
Held in the Memorial Union’s large ballroom from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the fair offered students interested in a summer job or internship the opportunity to meet and network with potential employers both local and beyond. With more than 20 different organizations looking to hire, there was plenty of variety.
“We are looking for some interns for the summer,” said Dureanna Robertson, a recruiter for the Grand Forks-based Black Gold Farms. “Somebody with a little bit more of a science background…And then we also need some agronomy interns throughout lots of our farms across the country.”
Despite it being early in the day, Robertson was pleased by the number of students who seemed to take interest in her organization.
“We’re seeing some good traffic,” she said. “A lot of science and chemistry majors, so hopefully some good prospects.”
Across the room from Black Gold Farms was a robust booth for Frandsen Bank, featuring a free-to-enter prize drawing just for showing up, as well as a beanbag throwing game. Such enticements were a common sight at several booths, as were all manner of smaller swag items, such as pens, stickers, and stress balls that ranged from looking like potatoes to hardhats. Snacks were also offered by many booths, although these were unnecessary given the enormous “Student Snack” section against the back wall of the ballroom.
“Our primary reason for being here today is to look at the young talent that’s coming up through the ranks of college and try to identify those that are looking for a summer opportunity that could even extend into the school year,” said Anthony Siewert, a wealth advisor for Frandsen Bank in East Grand Forks, as he manned the beanbag toss.
Some booths were even closer to home than Frandsen and Black Gold, with a few offices of the University of North Dakota itself in attendance, aimed at students looking for on-campus work over the spring and summer.
Career fairs can be a very effective way for students looking for work to find both money and experience relevant to their post-college career goals. These fairs and other career expos are a common occurrence on campus, with UND Career Services hosting at least one major career expo each semester.
