A quick early October sports review
Hey there UND sports fans.
I hope you all had the chance to see some of the sports teams in action this past week. Although many of them have been on the road, things have been going well for nearly everyone.
The volleyball team has continued to soar high above the rest since their win over NDSU at the end of September, with wins over Sacramento State and the University of Northern Colorado. In addition to the volleyball team, the football team is also coming off a win against Idaho State. The game may have been shaky at times, but they got the job done in the end.
The lone loss of the fall teams came on Friday October 4, as our soccer team fell to the University of Northern Colorado, 1-2. Even then, it was still a fun game to watch.
At this point, it is hard to believe that hockey is getting started, but it is. The women’s team started their regular season off with two wins over Lindenwood, while the men’s team won its exhibition game on Sunday over Manitoba.
Looking forward, we will see the Volleyball team back at home on Thursday and Saturday, as well as the men’s hockey team and the football team. The hockey team will take on Vermont, while the football team will host Eastern Washington for the annual Homecoming game.
With everything going on in the sports world, it will be very hard trying to fit homework in. I suggest that you pick a few games in advance to attend and skip the others. I have yet to do this; however, I am starting to feel the effects. It was fun while it lasted though. I even was able to watch our volleyball team play via Skype when they visited my sister’s school on Monday night in Greeley, CO.
Well anyway, with midterms approaching, I just want to say good luck and study hard. No team gets anywhere without practicing. It is time for us to get our academic practice in.
