Four earn Big Sky Honors
UND volleyball players secure recognition at conclusion of regular season.
Before heading west for what would be its final game of the season, four UND players have earned All-Big Sky honors.
Senior Ronni Munkeby was named to the All-Big Sky Conference First Team and freshman Anna Pioske claimed the title of co-Freshman of the Year. Senior Lisa Parlich and junior Nikki Husfeldt also were part of the second team while Pioske secured an honorable mention.
Munkeby became the 15th player in UND history to surpass 1,000 kills and currently is 12th in the record books with 1,092 kills in her career prior to last weekend. She ranks fourth in the league in hitting at .312 and averages 3.13 kills per set which is sixth-most in the conference.
Parlich leads the conference in hitting percentage at .371 — which ranks 40th in all NCAA Division I through the regular season. She also is fourth in the league in blocks and is 26 kills shy of 1,000 during her career before the match against Idaho State.
Junior Husfeldt is third on the UND all-time list for assists with over 3,942 during her three seasons. With an average of 10.94 assists this season, she sits at the top of the Big Sky and ranks 39th in the NCAA.
As a freshman, Pioske has notched over 320 kills and 235 digs which both rank third-most on the team. She started every match after producing 16 kills against Austin Peay on Sept. 6 and has tallied 16 matches with double digit kill totals.
North Daktoa went on to lose the Big Sky Conference Tournament last weekend — falling 3-1 to Idaho State after it entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed.
