Whether you are looking to get involved or grow your resume, there are countless opportunities to improve your professional image through involvement in student organizations on campus that are specific to your major. The Nistler College of Business offers unique opportunities for their students to get involved and take part in leadership opportunities through a wide variety of student organizations at UND.
These clubs include the Accounting Club, Business Leadership Club, Corporate and Business Aviation club, and countless other student led organizations. One of the newest business specific clubs that started up this year is the Wealth Management Club. Involvement through these organizations allow students the unique opportunity to network within a professional realm of interest that is specific to them with other like-minded students.
Matthew Steiffl, a first-year student at UND majoring in Finance, is from St. Michael, Minnesota and he talks about his experience becoming the founder and president of the Wealth Management Club at UND. Matt stated that he started up the club because he “wanted to start a club that is specific to what I want to do within my career path and offer the opportunity for other students to experiment and learn from each other in regard to managing assets.”
In regard to the finer details with how the club is ran, Matt went on to state that “we manage two funds that grow each week with a contribution, one in which only follows the S and P 500, and the other is managed by members within the club” with the ultimate goal being to outpace the S and P fund throughout the course of the school year.
Steiffl spoke passionately about the field of interest, which his club focuses on. He expresses interest in regard to growing the club more with students within the Nistler College of Business and with an interest in Wealth Management alike.
The bounds in which student led organizations can improve your university experience are what you make of it. You can visit the university’s student involvement web page and see if there is a club or organization that interest you, and if you cannot find what you are looking for, take the proactive steps to create your own club and bolster your career opportunities through your involvement on campus.
