Banquet honors alumni
AWARDS UND’s Alumni Association and Foundation gives out honors during Homecoming.
Each year, the UND Alumni Association & Foundation selects UND alumni to receive the Sioux Award. These individuals were honored Thursday at the 2013 Sioux Award Banquet as part of Homecoming Week celebrations.
The distinction is the highest honor that the foundation can bestow.
The event was held at the Alerus Center Ballroom. Attending the dinner cost $50 and required appropriate evening attire.
The award is given to alumni who exemplify achievement, service and loyalty.
This year’s Sioux Award recipients are:
Randy Newman, a graduate of ‘75 and ‘79 and President & Chief Executive Officer of Alerus Financial;
Linda Pancratz, ‘76, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Mountain Capital LLC;
Owen Anderson, ’71, Eugene Kuntz Chair of Law in Oil, Gas and Natural Resources at the University of Oklahoma;
Bob Solberg, ’69, chairman of Hyper Dynamics; and
Kris Solberg, ‘69, a childbirth educator and community volunteer.
Two other UND alumni were also honored Thursday night with the Young Alumni Achievement Award.
The recipients were Cassie Gerhardt, ’96, Assistant Dean of Students for Student Involvement & Leadership at UND; and
Chad Syverson, ’96, Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
