Wake Up to UND was at 7:30 am, on September 6, 2023. It was an event that was very inspiring to watch, and it highlighted the success of UND. It was hosted by Andrew Armacost and co-hosted by Chamber of Commerce East Grand Forks & Grand Forks. There were other people that also spoke in it, including Sara Sabry, a PHD student at the University of North Dakota. She is the first Arab and African woman to travel into space.
Some other people that spoke included Cheryl Hunter and Maridee Shogreb. These 2 women are the two newest college Deans at UND. Everyone who talked was very informative, and I learned so much about UND, in general. This talk was also very inspiring because you see through all the speeches and videos all the students and staff working together. They help out wherever it is needed to help make opportunities available. President Armacost also addressed the enrollment, which is currently at a ten-year high. It has increased 2.5% from last year. With the students and staff, I am not doubtful that we will keep growing. UND continues unwaveringly to be such an amazing school, with a great community of staff and students who are ready to learn. President Armacost also conveyed UND Lead’s vision. Its vision is inspiring, a sense of wonder, love of discovery, and commitment to serve.
Overall, I personally know I will be attending this every year from now on. Wake Up to UND was so inspiring to watch and hear all the amazing things about the University of North Dakota. Along with hearing all about the opportunities that staff and students worked together to make available to students to use.
