Float Day

Float day is held May 3rd on the main floor of the Memorial Union at 11 am for students to celebrate the last week of classes with a free ice cream float while supplies last. Students must have their student ID number. This event is put on by Student Involvement who gives out various food and beverage items about every month free to students to reward them for their hard work at the university. In the past, there have been grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, cupcakes, and more.

Spring Fever Concert

May 4th at 8 pm at the Alerus Center is UND’s annual Spring Fever concert. Last year, the university had 2015 hip hop artist, Fetty Wap, perform, and this year Two Friends is appearing with opener Silver Warehouse. This DJ and producer duo, Eli Sones and Matthew Halper, are most notable for their remixes but have recently been coming out with their own tracks.

Spring Fever is Sponsored by UND Student Government, and tickets are being sold at the memorial Union for $30 as well as the Alerus Center box office and Ticketmaster.

Study-A-Thon

Hosted by the governing Panhellenic Council of UND Greek Life, the annual Study-A-Thon is set for Sunday, May 7th from 12pm to 6pm in the Memorial Union Ballroom. Upon arrival, you will receive a ticket for attendance, which enters you into a drawing for a variety of winning prizes. The prizes include a Nespresso Vertuo, Apple Air pods Pro, an Apple Watch SE, a JBL Speaker, an Apple Air tag, a Stanley Cup, a Target Gift Card, a UND Hoodie, a Visa Gift Card, a Nugget Ice Machine, a Hatch Alarm Clock, a Lululemon Dual Puch Wristlet, and a UND Hockey Jersey. There will also be various snacks and food, such as Jimmy Johns sandwiches and Boss pizza.

This is a great opportunity for all students to have study time with their peers in a structured environment. There are quiet spaces available, but students will also be around classmates and friends. It is a great time to bounce ideas off one another, quiz each other, or help strategize for finals week, which is May 8th to May 12th

Commencement Ceremonies

Graduation is upon the seniors and some juniors as classes wrap up this week. The Law School Commencement ceremony is May 6th at 10 am in the Chester Fritz Auditorium. Directly following is the School of Medicine and Health Sciences Commencement ceremony at 2:30 pm.

The doctoral and master’s degree ceremony is at 9 am May 13th followed by the undergrad degree ceremony at 2 pm. Both ceremonies will be held at the Alerus Center and will be live streamed as well on UND’s webpage and Facebook.

“Each graduate will be honored at the spring commencement ceremonies for their academic achievements,” according to UND Student Involvement. “UND commencement ceremonies are open to graduates and their guests.”

Doors for both ceremonies open 90 minutes before for guests to arrive early and find seating as tickets are free and open to the public. The doctoral and master’s ceremony is about an hour and a half long while the undergrad ceremony is about two and a half hours in length.
