December 5, 2021
There are some people who might not need to study before an exam and some people who cannot study enough, but we all learn in different ways. Whether you are a visual learner, auditory learner, or kinesthetic learner, studying is an activity that most people do not enjoy.
There are different ways for each person to study that will complement their learning style. A visual learner might prefer to use flashcards and charts, an auditory learner would rather discuss in groups and listen to audios and videos, and a kinesthetic learner takes a hands-on approach through experiencing things in the real-world.
Whichever learner that you identify as, there are tips and tricks for everyone when it comes to cracking down and studying before a big exam. With finals coming up at universities across the country including here at UND, it is beneficial to expand your studying horizons.
With daily routines, people become more productive in their day-to-day lives, which might also help with carving out time to study each day instead of cramming it all into the day before the test. On top of that, changing your surroundings might also help you to retain the information you are studying. Your dorm room or kitchen table might be too distracting with all your personal belongings right at your fingertips.
Studying with friends might help people stay on track by quizzing each other, going through flashcards, or taking practice exams together, but that might not be the best way to study for all. Studying while listening to your jams or in silence is other people’s speed, but it is all about finding your rhythm.
The methods you use to study all depend on your learning style and preferences, so trying out different techniques to find your perfect studying flow.
