Running and family time

Hey guys! Happy October. 🙂

I wanted to share with you all a little bit about what I did last weekend. On Saturday, I ran the 10k for the Wild Hog Grand Forks Marathon. It was cold and wet and rainy, but I had a blast. Seriously guys, I live for this stuff. I didn’t place in it by a long shot, but according to the Grand Forks Herald, I made the top 25 for the 10k runners! Out of about 352, that seemed like a pretty good feat to me. I also think I might have broken my personal record for time. But that really wasn’t even the highlight of my weekend.

My parents, wonderful and dedicated as they are, drove 5 hours to get here at 7 a.m. to watch me run. I know, right? I love them to pieces. The week before they came, I had FaceTimed, called, and texted my mom and gave her a huge list of stuff I wanted them to bring me. In addition to clothes and miscellaneous items, I requested a ton of homemade food. As I’ve stated earlier in various columns and blogs, my family is big on home-cooked food and as a college student away from home, boy was I craving it. So my wonderful parents brought me banana bread, chicken noodle soup, chili, blueberry muffins, apples from the orchard, etc. You get the idea. 🙂

I loved that my parents came to visit me. It was a ton of fun to see them and spend the weekend with them. They truly are the best parents I could ever ask for, and I am thankful for them everyday.

I just wanted to share with you all about my fantastic weekend. 🙂

This is me with my lovely mother. 🙂

And this is me, soaking wet but on Cloud 9 after my 10k on Saturday!
